Not happy with their work

I mainly hired the service to clean the intake, which is in the ceiling downstairs. One tech stripped the screws holding the cover on, so they wiped it down and pretended like they cleaned that duct. THE MAIN REASON I CALLED THEM. Then when I asked if they cleaned it, the guy lied to me. I went and got a flashlight and showed him it was still dirty, then came the excuses. Also, they bent nearly every cover that they removed and replaced. I won't recommend their work to others. After they finished they tried to upsell me on a few more items, unbelievable. Not to mention they left dust and water upstairs where they had to repair their machine. Thanks for coming over and making a mess.

HOWEVER, I PREFERRED TO REMAIN IN THE ARMY FOR 22 YEARS. AFTER CONTACTING GREG FROM AIRE SERV OF PORT RICHEY, FL 34668 AT 727-276-****; THE TECHNICIAN ABELIS MARTINEZ WAS DISPATCH TO MY HOME. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO SELL ME A NEW UNIT IMMEDIATELY UPON HIS ARRIVAL VIA THE GUIDANCE OF GREG, I DECLINED. MY UNIT FUNCTIONED WELL IN NEARLY 4 YEARS AT THIS ADDRESS UNTIL A LIGHTNING STRIKE SEVERAL WEEKS BEFORE AIRE SERV'S ARRIVAL. AFTER ALLEGED HAD OFFERED A HEAT PUMP, A NEW COMPRESSOR WAS INSTALLED. AFTER INSTALLING A NEW 2.5 Ton COMPRESSOR instead of a 5 Ton Compressor AND UTILIZING MY CAPACITORS. THE UNIT FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. AIRE SERV QUOTED ME A NEW COMPRESSOR AT $2,850+/-; HOWEVER, I WAS ABLE TO BARGAIN WITH THEM AND WE ARRIVED AT A $2,450.00 AND $2,574.00 WITH A SURGE PROTECTOR. $2,580.00 WAS PAID WITH NO CHANGE IN RETURN OR RECEIPT. INITIALLY, AIRE SERV WANTED $6900 FOR A NEW AC UNIT OF 5 TONS. ALTHOUGH, I PERCEIVED THEM TO NOTICE MY BARGAINING SKILLS AND QUICKLY QUOTED A $8900 THUS REDUCING THE QUOTED PRICE FOR A NEW 5 TON AC COMPLETE UNIT; ALTHOUGH, THEY ONLY MISLED ME GIVING ME A 2.5 TON COMPRESSOR FOR MY MONEY. YES, IT COST ME AS THE SHORTAGE OF TONNAGE OF THE COMPRESSOR THEY SOLD ME. CONSEQUENTLY THEIR TECHINICAN ABELIS DESPITE TAKING MANY PICTURES SURELY THEY WERE NOT OF THE EQUIPMENT INSTALLED CORRECTLY. ESPECIALLY AFTER TELLING ABELIS THE UNIT WAS INCREASING THE TEMPERATURE OF THE HOME BY 6 DEGREES WHILE THE AC SHOULD HAVE BEEN REVERSING THIS PROCEDURE. IN PART DUE ENTIRELY TO THE HIGH-PRESSURE AMOUNTS OF FREON READINGS OBTAINED BY THE NEGLIGENT TECHNICIAN. THE FREON READING FOR An R410A SHOULD BE 125/380 TO OPERATE PROPERLY. HOWEVER, THE READINGS WERE 225/290 WHEN THE TECHNICIAN DEPARTED MY PREMISES UNABLE TO MAKE THE UNIT WORK PROPERLY. AT THIS READING THE LOW-PRESSURE SIDE MUST BE AT OR ABOUT 125LBS; IT WOULD NEVER FREEZE WITH THAT PRESSURE. IT MUST BE AT 125 TO BEGIN FREEZING. AN OVERLOAD OF FREON WAS PLACED INTO IT TO DISRUPT PROPER FUNCTION CAUSING ME TO PUT A NEW AC UNIT INTO IT. THEN A COMPRESSOR WAS REPLACED TO PROVIDE THE READINGS 225/290. ABELIS, COULD NOT KEEP HIS PREDICTIONS STRAIGHT DESCRIBING THE UNIT TO HAVE A FAULTY EVAPORATOR VALVE EXPRESSING THAT THE ENTIRE AIR HANDLER UNIT HAD TO HAVE REPLACED. THE OVERCHARGE OF FREON DISRUPTED THE FUNCTION OF THE COMPRESSOR NOT ENABLING IT TO COMPRESS THE FREON PROPERLY. THE VALVES INSIDE THE NEW COMPRESSOR ARE NOT ARE CLOSING PROPERLY IN THE COMPRESSOR TO ALLOW IT TO COMPRESS THE FREON SENDING IT INTO THE DRYER TO CLEAN IT'S RESIDUE BEFORE IT ENTERED INTO THE CAPILLARY TUBE THUS CAUSING IT TO RESTRICT AND COMING INTO A FREEZE STATE. THIS COMPANY SPECIFIES THAT THE VALVE AT THE AIR HANDLER IS DEFECTIVE AND IS NOT CAUSING IT TO FREEZE. SOME FREON WAS REMOVED, AND IMMEDIATELY THE AIR HANDLER BEGAN TO FREEZE ENTIRELY. AND, THE FACT THAT THE COMPRESSOR BECAME DAMAGED IT IS NOT DISPATCHING COOL-AIR INTO THE HOME. CONSEQUENTLY RUNNING THE AC UNIT INCREASES THE TEMPERATURE IN THE HOUSE BY 6 DEGREES. HOWEVER, THE COMPRESSOR BECAME DAMAGED DUE TO IT'S OVERCHARGED STATE WITH FREON. COMPANY IS ARTICULATING THAT THE TXB VALVE WHICH I UNDERSTAND IT TO BE THE DRYER VALVE NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. WHEN SUBSEQUENTLY THEY IMPLIED THAT THE AIR HANDLER NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. I AM AT A DISADVANTAGE SINCE I AM NOT AWARE AS TO WHAT ALL I WAS TO RECEIVE WITH A NEW COMPRESSOR AS THEY USED MY PARTS TO COMPILE THIS NEW SYSTEM THAT DOES NOT FUNCTION AFTER PAYING OVER $2580. I had a "technician" come out to service a heater. When I called 3 days later that the problem in fact was not fixed. I set up a follow up appt that no one showed. I called immediately to find out why was told check and then reset the circuit breaker after that call back. Then for over two weeks of calling and leaving a message NEVER received a return call. I have never had such a horrible experience with any company. Obviously they did not fix the problem, did not believe in there work but still managed to take my $500. I would tell anyone to run as fast as you can to another service provider.

Call somebody else before you risk your home dealing with Aire Serv. We had a dripping condensate pan. Aire Serv replumbed the the drain line and assured me it was fixed. I now have extensive damage in the bathroom caused by a new leak. This service was done on Friday, and the leak discovered on Saturday. Aire Serv has no backup or emergency service so no one will address this issue. Aire Serv customer service has advised me to "Wait until Monday and we will about getting you scheduled next week. This is a horrible situation, and Aire Serv is unresponsive. In the mean time the damage caused by their incompetence just keeps growing.

When the AireServe rep, Charlie, came to inspect my old AC, he found that the Freon was leaking. Charlie seemed very knowledgeable and helpful when we discussed my options at this point.

I opted to buy a new AC. He also helped me get a financial plan with GreenSky so that this large purchase would be affordable for me. The technicians set up an install date, and did everything on time. They no doubt know their profession, and the AC is working fine.

But I do have one complaint about their service: They damaged my laminate wood floor in the hallway where they were working. Laminate is not as sturdy as real hardwood, but looks very nice if well cared for. After everything was finished, I discovered that what I thought was a lot of dirt was actually scrapes, scratches and gouges in my floor.

Of course these can't be "sanded out" and refinished like hardwood. So now I am looking at ugly marks in my previously beautiful floor.

AIRE SERV OF PORT RICHEY, FL 34668 ARE WORTHLESS NOT EVEN AN ATTEMPT TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. THEIR ONLY SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE AN 11 YEAR OLD UNIT WITH AN $9000 UNIT.

CONSEQUENTLY, SEARS HOME REPAIR CORRECTED THE PROBLEM COSTING ME $69,00. PERHAPS IF THEY DID NOT SCAM ME, TAKING ADVANTAGE OF A 100% DISABLED SENIOR VETERANS WITH THREE SMALL CHILDREN SURELY MY FAMILY AND I WOULD OF GOT WHAT WE PAID FOR. WE PAID FOR A 5 TON REPLACEMENT COMPRESSOR INSTEAD OIF THE 2 AND HALF TON COMPRESSOR THEY INSTALLED.

THIS WAS NOT A TECHNICIAN ERROR IT WAS DECEIT TO THE FULESS EXTENT OF THE LAW. GREEDY UNSCRUPULOUS UNPROFESSIONAL MISERS IS WHAT THEY ARE GIVING THE INDUSTRY A BAD NAME AND REPUTATION.

I see 16 complaint on here about different Aire Serv franchisees across the country. While that is 16 too many, as an Aire Serv member i would like to point out that that there are over 160 locations just in the United States alone. Thats over 1600 employees to keep track of. I have read all these comments and about half of them could have been solved by better communication from the Technicians. All Aire Serv franchises are supposed to do upfront pricing( we tell the home owner what it will cost and they approve it before we ever start the job). This protects the homeowner by letting them know what the price is whether the job takes 1 hr or 3 hrs. The other complaints are truly bad business management of volatile situations. I am sorry to see these complaints but I would urge everyone to look at the big picture.

I see the complaints on this forum don't understand how my experience could be so different. The performed a major repair on my heat pump and I completely trusted their work. I felt that they thoroughly investigated the issue and sought the lowest cost solution. They actually returned to fix an additional issue at no cost. When dealing with a technician on a problem in which you are ignorant, it's comes down to trust. They invoked my trust in them and I feel they did superior work. I actually had a problem with a fan module on my variable speed fan, they could very easily have informed me that the entire fan should be replaced (a $1,900 job) but narrowed the problem down to the module which connect to the fan. A much lower cost repair. I have no relation to the company and this is the first time that I have utilized their service. I highly recommend them.

Over charged!

Aire Serve spent one hour installing two refrigerant lines on my new heat pump and vacuumed the lines. He also filled out the warranty card and tested the unit.

I am satisfied with the work.....but he charged me $500.00! and used no materials except for a dozen wire ties! This comes to $500.00 / hour labor!!!!

I looked at reviews of this company and found a site where everyone gives them 5 stars and loves them, then I looked at Glass Door where former employees talk about how they rip people off! I know many companies set up fake reviews to make them look good and I feel that this company has done this.

I'm an HVAC contractor and it seems as if you were having someone put in equipment that they did not provide you with. Our policy is if we didn't provide it to the home owner we don't install it.

Home owners never take into the account of the liability that a contractor takes on when working in someones home. They never think about paying the phone bill, insurance, labor, truck payment, tools, taxes and office staff.

My air conditioning unit stopped working on August 13th a Saturday call six companies they were the only one who could come on Monday got it up and running for a cost of $350 when they arrived my thermostat would read the outside temperature when they left it wasn't working I called them back and made an appointment a service tech called me that morning said he never touched the thermostat which was a lie said he would come anyway and look at it never called never showed up my thermostat is still not working

Complete crooks. Charged 250 for first call out. Was not fixed. Called a second time and he gave me a 5600 estimate to replace the heat exchange. I called another company who charged a 79.00 call out fee. Said the unit is fine there is just a plugged drain.

TOO MUCH FOR SERVICE

I had Aire Serve come out and check my AC unit because it wasn't putting out cold air. Guy came out and said Freon was low. I asked him how much would it be and he said it shouldn't be too much because it is the new type. I told him okay and fill it. It took 2.1lbs of Freon and about 15 mins. to install. They charged me $275.00! r410 Freon costs about $80-100 dollars for 15 lbs. So around $6-7 dollars a lb. 2.1 x $7 = $14.70 of Freon. So they charged me around $260.00 for.....what? Travel? Tech charge? Wow! What a business! Never again!!!!!!! EVER!!!

Maybe you should have gone a brought the refrigerant yourself. Then purchased a set a guages, a refrigerant scale and a meter.

You then could have gone and paid for a course on how to diagnose the problem and then correctly add the refrigerant and adjust the system charge. Oh wait, make sure you study and pay for your EPA license so you can legally handle the refrigerant.

AIRE SERV RIP OFF

Called Aire Serv to look at the furnace, was told there will be 159.99 diagnostic fee, if I choose to repair it would be waived.

The tech was 45min late, had our house # wrong. Fired up unit, and told me the last two burners did not light right away. That he needs to clean them. I went to my car to wait, it was very cold inside the house. The tech came back and told me that I would need to replace the furnace. And charged me 240.00.

I called the aire serv office requesting a receipt for 4 days, each time that would take my email address, and would tell me that it would be sent righ away, but it was not. On the forth day, I called again and requested a reciept. I got diagnostic fee of 240.00 on it. I called the office and asked that my fee should of been 159.99.

Dan replied that it was a typo on the reciept and it was for cleaning the burners and that I was lucky that I didn't get a full price of 250.00.

Anyway, Its unprofessional to run a business like this. I hope, I saw this website before I made my appoitment.

Exorbitant charges

I called Aire Serv and asked for service for my AC unit which had become non-responsive. I was told the service charge would be $91.00, I agreed. In retrospect, I should have found someone else. Given the recent reduction in fuel costs, their service charges are exorbitant, and should be much, much less. The technician came and spent 15 minutes or less at my home and he was not able to find faults anywhere in the system. I was told that there was "nothing I can do" by the technician after his diagnosis. Yet, when I received my bill, it was in the amount of $174.11. This alone makes their billing suspect. Not only to me, but potentially to thousands of other unsuspecting "customers". I tried calling the Aire Service office several times, seeking to talk to someone that could assist me. I was told that someone would call. That never happened. I reiterate that I was never contacted! This is where I became suspicious and angry. Their answering service denied any responsibility. At the beginning of each call, customers are told their calls may be recorded. I asked for a copy of that recording. I am entitled to that! That request has been blown off by both the phone service and the Aire Serv representative who did finally call. I want a copy of that recording! After an explanation of what had transpired at my home, he agreed to reduce the bill to a simple service charge, which is all that it was. This kind of unethical business practice should be reviewed by the proper authorities. I will be looking into that.
